What YWG Is All About

Comprised of college aged individuals dedicated to advancing the mission of UNESCO, the Youth Working Group (YWG) connects youth across the world to opportunities that allow them to affect global change. Since its start, the YWG has advised the U.S. National Commission to UNESCO, made valuable connections with global change leading partner organizations, and worked closely with the US state department, all while opening doors for youth engagement.

They serve to facilitate cross-cultural communication and to provide a number of platforms for motivated young people to engage in dialogue with one another. Above all, the YWG seeks:

To be an envoy of the Commission to engage youth in their work;

To work with members of the Commission, and other bodies related to UNESCO’s mission, in opening up opportunities for youth to take on leadership roles and have a voice therein; and

To empower youth with the knowledge and tools they need to lead initiatives that serve the missions of the U.S. and UNESCO.
